I've always wondered about that explanation as a medical hardship is normally a means of obtaining another year to compete due to an unjury. However, Palmer and Jameson are reported to have left the team, will apparently remain on scholarship until they graduate, and presumably will not wrestle again collegiately.
In short, it sounds more like a career ending injury as opposed to the normal "medical hardship" situation, and the explanation provided makes one wonder of there is actually more to the story. "The news wasn’t so good for Collin Palmer and Tony Jameson, who were expected to start the season at 141 and 165 pounds. While each showed a lot of potential when healthy, both battled a variety of injuries throughout their time in Columbus. Unfortunately neither was able to remain healthy this year, both have left the team, and each will accept a medical hardship waiver to finish school at Ohio State." .
