FILA questions

FILA questions

Postby buf87 » Tue Feb 12, 2013 9:48 am

Can somebody explain what FILAs' roll is in International wrestling and why they are in control?

I hear many people complain that FILA is a large part of the problem. I have heard people complain about FILA for awhile now. Why do we allow they to be in control, if they are doing a bad job.

Is it a foreign group and mainly USA wrestlers that seem to be complaining or what?

Hello,

Regarding to FILA - what I can say from the people I know and deal with in Switzerland, Germany and Sweden is that FILA has done a poor job in organising the sport. There have been too many controversies and this is giving IOC a headache. Many say that it started in 2000 with some of the rules and how they are enforced (some argue it is subjective). Also - it appears that FILA is not coordinating as it should. For many countries (I work in Switzerland and live in Sweden) the national members I know feel that wrestling is getting a bad reputation and I know from one outspoken person in Sweden that he argues why cycling is still in Olympics in lieu of its bad publicity for doping, etc. Again, there are many fingers pointing to FILA and I would hope that strong member nations such as Russia, USA and Iran can work together in sake of the sport! Please.
