The link is above, how come Yumoto won the first period, if the score was tied 1-1 and Velikov scored last?

Caution for fleeing breaks the tie.

Note, as Yumoto is completing his takedown, Velikov turns and flees-the-mat. The referee on the mat signals 1 pt blue. He also correctly signals a caution---raises his hand w/ red band straight out to his side, asking for a confirmation from either the judge or chairman for a caution against red. The far mat judge confirms (can't see the mat chairman who also confirmed if my memory is correct)---notice the red light on.
Neither the referee nor mat judge, however, ask for a caution when Velikov is awarded his 1 pt, because Yumoto didn't flee, nor did Velikov complete his TD, hence only a push-out pt w/ no caution attached.
The signal on the mat was as clear as a football referee signaling a safety. I was puzzled at the time, how the BUL coaches and Velikov appear to miss the call:?:

That's what made me especially curious: the fact that Velikov and his coaches were baffled by the call. I wonder if they just did not notice the call.

Those sitting around me also were curious. Yumoto and the Japanese coaches appear as if they were aware of the circumstances. Such an elementary mistake from Olympic level coaches:!: Perhaps the BUL coaches thought Velikov knew he would lose the tie-breaker:?:

It seemed as if they weren't aware of the circumstances - which I was not. Velikov wrestled the last 20 seconds as if he thought he was winning. The coaches as well as Velikov seemed as confused as me, and I am obviously not an Olympic level coach/wrestler. Maybe just forgot in the heat of the moment. Horrible way to lose such an important match, although Velikov did have a chance to come back.

Indeed, Velikov had his chance--the nice thing about the best-of-3 format--and he couldn't convert. I suspect Yumoto proved to be the better wrestler.
